Meet Amy!

One of our newest Associate Teachers, Amy Summers, took a little time out for a Q&A with us to introduce herself.

Name: Amy Summers

Qualification: MA (Hons) Primary Education

Q: Describe your experience in education:

A: I have worked in education at varying levels for the past 13 years and I must say I have treasured each and every moment. I am a passionate and driven individual with safeguarding, equality and academic progression at the forefront of every lesson, to every pupil I teach. I currently work in Oldham as a Deputy Head Teacher.

Q: Why did you become a teacher?

A: Without wanting to sound stereotypical, I became a teacher to really make a difference to the lives of as many pupils as I possibly could. Teaching is more about academic progression alone, it is about the cultivation of relationships and the promotion of self confidence which really allow children to flourish.

Q: How do you approach your role as a teacher and tutor?

A: I have a caring and understanding approach and embrace the opportunity to further cultivate these relationships with parents and pupils, with a greater emphasis on individual planning, customer care and the consideration of children’s specific needs. Tutoring gives me the opportunity to really explore, guide, support and challenge children on a personal and directed level.

Q: Away from the classroom, what do you enjoy doing?

A: I love spending time with my family more than anything. My son Jack inspires me daily to be the best version of myself. When restrictions ease, I enjoy spending time with friends exploring the local area and enjoying nice food.

Q: Who are you supporting in your role as Associate Tutor at Learn North West?

A: At the moment I support KS2 students with needs which vary. Some clients need additional support in order to meet their own personal goals, whereas others are being challenged to achieve Greater Depth and beyond in their education. I tutor because each and every child is unique. I enjoy the challenge it brings to myself when motivating and inspiring young minds to want to be the best versions of themselves.

Amy is currently working from our Learn North West HQ in Altrincham as well as with our Oldham and Saddleworth division. Amy's experience spans Key Stage 1 and 2 and she is able to support children with various needs and learning goals. For availability please enquire via email to info@learnnorthwest.com.
